A bland, perhaps pointless, election season.

Well, it’s McCain and Obama in November, and we here at Gideon for President are less than thrilled. Obama is off the board for us for all the usual liberal Democrat reasons, and while we thought we could stomach McCain we find ourselves ill at ease. Sure, he’s got his good points: coming out against abortion, continuing to support the war in Iraq, and more recently calling for greater domestic oil drilling (though backing off from opening up ANWR to such). Yet he preaches that he will make climate issues a priority and panders to the higher fuel economy crowd, proving that he distrusts science and the free market in search of support. He hasn’t learned, as many Republicans and even good conservatives have not or will not, that’s there no use pandering to those who are not going to support you anyway. The global warming alarmists and anti-automobile enthusiasts are liberal and will not vote for one of us under any circumstances.
We appreciate the concern with appearing inclusive, but that simply isn’t what the Left wants. They say they do - it plays, perhaps, in Peoria - but the truth is they want what they want however they can get it. Hence going to court every time the political tide is against them or the legislative process vetoes their goals despite their pleas that they believe in democracy. So don’t worry about being inclusive, John, except for being willing to include all who want rightness for rightness sake. Worry about doing what’s right and let the chips fall where they may. In the meantime, David Gideon will hope that his vote for you won’t simply be because he has no other reasonable option.
